(ABC 6 News) -- The principal of Osage Middle School is on paid administrative leave after being arrested for operating while intoxicated over the weekend.
Court documents show Jay Marley, 42, was pulled over in Charles City Saturday for a turning violation. According to a criminal complaint, Marley smelled of alcohol and a sobriety test showed he had a blood alcohol content of 0.152, nearly twice the legal limit.
Marley is charged with first-offense OWI, a serious misdemeanor.
Osage Community Schools Superintendent Barb Schwamman released a statement Monday saying the district is aware of the charges and is following standard procedures.
"We expect no disruption of the Middle School learning environment as HS Principal, Tim Hejhal, will assume 5-12 duties," Schwamman said.
Marley appeared in court and was released on his own recognizance, according to court documents. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 1 for a preliminary hearing.
