(ABC 6 News) - People's Energy Cooperative (PEC) has issued a warning after one of their members reported a potential scam involving someone coming to their home claiming to be from "their electric utility" and attempting to gain access to the home.
PEC said a member in rural Dodge County reported that on Monday afternoon a man came to their home and said they were overdue for a furnace and air conditioner check and tried to gain access to the home.
PEC said the member did not allow the person inside and issued this statement, "PEC would like to remind members that any work being done by the Cooperative inside their home would be arranged by appointment. Work would typically be done by our master electrician or one of our meter technicians and these employees would arrive in vehicles clearly marked with the PEC logo and wearing PEC uniforms. If a member ever has a question or is unsure about work being done inside their home bythe Cooperative, they ar welcome to call (800) 214-2694."
