(ABC 6 News) -- The newest member of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office's K9 Unit, Huey, will be the first K9 assigned to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center.

Huey was rescued from a shelter in Minnesota and brought to Paws and Claws Humane Society in Rochester at about 18 months old.

According to a press release from the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office, the goal is for Huey to help increase safety at the jail for both the staff and detainees.

Huey will be working with Detention Deputy Ryan Delgado and together, they'll be a "single purpose narcotics detection team."
