(ABC 6 News) -- Two veteran Olmsted County deputies helped talk a man off a ledge in rural Rochester Tuesday afternoon.

The deputies found a car on the bridge near the railing. The man was between the vehicle and the railing. According to Olmsted County Sheriff's Captain Scott Behrns, as the deputies got closer, the man stepped over the railing and was standing on a concrete ledge over the river.

The deputies spent about 45 minutes talking to the man. Capt. Behrns said both deputies are veterans in law enforcement and both have gone through Crisis Intervention Training.

The deputies closed down traffic while they were talking to the man. He eventually got off the ledge and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
