No Vitamin D this Month

No Vitamin D this Month

October 11, 2018 09:44 PM

Where has that sun gone?  We've only seen limited amounts of it this month.  Clouds (and rain) have been a fixture for the first 11 days of October.  At the time of writing this at 5pm on October 11th, 257 hours have passed by in October 2018.  226 of those hours have been spent under cloud cover.  The difference, only 31 hours that have seen the clouds clear out.  Roughly 88% of the time this month has been spent with the gray.

That's not to say we've seen 31 hours of sunshine.  Because this is both day and night.  Only 18 hours of that timeframe have had at least peaks of sun in that timeframe.

Good news though.  We'll break that gloomy stretch after Friday with partial sun expected this weekend.  A better chance for full sunshine arrives next week.

Please note, there can be an element of error when calculating true cloud cover.  Overcast conditions can be misrepresented as clear skies at higher levels in the atmosphere.  If this error did fall within our data this month, it would mean more cloudy hours were observed than what's being represented here.
