(ABC 6 News) -- Two separate crashes within two hours of each other involving multiple semi-trucks sent two people to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

The first crash happened on eastbound Interstate 90 just east of Rochester around 1 p.m. According to the Rochester Fire Department, two trucks crashed into each other, trapping one person inside and forcing first responders to extricate them from the vehicle. That person was taken to an area hospital.

Interstate 90 was temporarily closed until crews removed debris from the road, the fire department said.

Around 90 minutes later, three semi-trucks rear-ended each other in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 just east of Highway 52, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The 35-year-old Arkansas woman driving one of the trucks was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital Saint Marys Campus in Rochester with non-life threatening injuries. All three drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
