(ABC 6 News) - Mower County Sheriff Steve Sandvik said authorities have positively identified human remains found in a remote area of Forestville State Park.
Sandvik said the Southeast Regional Medical Examiner's Office identified the remains as those belonging to 35-year-old Steven Holm of Leroy.
Holm was seen in Mankato on July 30 and reported missing in early August; his vehicle was found at the state park three days later.
Sandvik said that at this time no cause or manner of death has been determined.
The Mower County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report of human remains found in a remote area in or near Forestville State Park.
Sheriff Steve Sandvik said the report of possible remains initially came in to the Fillmore County Sheriff's Office Thursday morning and that the two departments are working together on the investigation.
Those remains are being taken to the SE MN Regional Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. More information is expected to be released Friday.
