Mother Facing DUI Charges; Children Allegedly Home Alone

(ABC 6 News) -- A Stewartville woman was taken to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center after deputies said she left her kids home alone to drink at a bar.

Around 9:45 p.m. on May 19, law enforcement received a phone call from a man who said his former girlfriend left their 10 and 8-year-old children alone at her residence on the 2100 block of Sonke Lane in NW Stewartville. Captain Scott Behrns said the children called their father after being alone at their mother's house since 6 p.m. Due to past history, Captain Scott Behrns, said the kids had reason to believe their mother was out drinking.

About 15 minutes later, Captain Behrns said the mother, 32-year-old Rebecca Nash pulled into the driveway of her residence where a deputy met her. Captains Behrns said Nash admitted to the deputy that she had been at a local bar. The deputy conducted a standard field sobriety test and Nash was taken to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center where she had a BAC of .12.

Nash faces two counts of misdemeanor DUI. The children were placed in the care of their father.
