Candidates for 2020's Minnesota Teacher of the Year narrowed to 36

(ABC 6 News) - Education Minnesota has announced the semifinalists for the 2020 Minnesota Teacher of the Year honor.

Panelists narrowed the list from 135 candidates to 36.

134 teachers are candidates for the Minnesota Teacher of the Year award and several of them are from the southeast part of the state.

This is the 56th year Education Minnesota has honored teachers. 

Eligible teachers this year include pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade, Early Childhood Family Education and Adult Basic Education teachers, from public or private schools. 

The winner will be announced Sunday, May 3.
