The next big system we're watching looks to begin to impact the forecast area starting Wednesday afternoon and last through Thursday afternoon/early evening. We'll focus on winds in our next post but this next low will bring a heavier round of precipitation with it... compared to the early week rain chance on Monday. Since winds will be out of the south Wednesday afternoon through Thursday very early morning, any precipitation that falls will fall as rain. Once the cold front passes, depending on how fast the cold air rushes in, we'll see a rain/snow mix then finally snow through the mid morning hours on Thursday.
Accumulations for rain will range between a few tenths of an inch to about a half an inch with snow amounts being very similar. Some of our models suggest that some places may accumulate over an inch of snow however, we have to keep in mind that ground temperatures will be above freezing and air temperatures will have only just cooled below freezing.
