As we move into the middle of next week, a strong low pressure system looks to move through parts of the Plains, potentially impacting those of us across southeastern Minnesota/northeastern Iowa. Ahead of the center, winds will be breezy and out of the south (mainly from Wednesday through early Thursday morning). Once the cold front passes, winds will be equally as breezy out of the northwest. Since this low will originating from our southwest, there'll be plenty of moisture associated with it. Depending on how far north this low tracks and how much cold air is pulled down... we'll either see rain or a rain/snow mix (the likelihood of all snow isn't looking great as of now).
This low will cause travel headaches with impacts including slick conditions and breezy conditions Wednesday mid afternoon through Thursday night. Since, as of Saturday, it looks to be mostly rain our road conditions shouldn't be too bad however, if the track of this low moves we may see more frozen precipitation overhead so stay with ABC 6 News for the latest forecast.
