(KSTP) -- The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office classified the death of the Chanhassen teen shot by Carver County deputies as a homicide, a term the medical examiner uses to describe any death caused by the intentional actions of another person or persons.

The medical examiner's report confirmed 16-year-old Archer Amorosi died of multiple gunshot wounds Friday morning.

According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, deputies were called to the 6400 block of Oriole Avenue Friday morning after a woman reported her son was suicidal and threatening her with knives and a baseball bat.

When officers encountered the teen, they deployed a taser. At some point during the encounter, the two deputies fired their weapons, striking the teen who was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Friday, a family friend confirmed the teen that was shot was Amorosi.

Both deputies involved have been placed on standard administrative leave.
