(ABC 6 News) -- UPDATE: Mason City Police sent out an update regarding their investigation of the shooting incident which involved a man who was shot in his upper body on Saturday.

Police say they sent out a Code Red and executed a search warrant around 4:50 p.m. Sunday, after officers located a vehicle that may be involved in the shooting incident that occurred on December 9 in the 200 block of 12th, Street SE.

A Code Red warning was issued for the area surrounding the 600 block of South Carolina Avenue, after officers, believed that a suspect from the shooting incident was located inside of a residence there. Because the investigation involved the use of firearms, officers took appropriate precautions to notify neighbors of the potential public safety risk.

The occupants of a residence in the 600 block of South Carolina Avenue were evacuated from their location. Officers were uncertain if there were additional people and/or suspects inside of the residence. The North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force Special Operations Group (SOG) was called to assist Mason City Police in securing the residence.

One additional person left the residence after communicating with police who were outside. There is no ongoing threat to the public and the Code Red warning has been canceled.

Police say officers are currently executing the search warrant and the incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Lt. Rich Jensen at the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.
