UPDATE: Olmsted County Fatal Crash Victim Identified

(ABC 6 News) --  UPDATE: The Minnesota State Patrol released the name of the 25-year-old man from Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Canada who died in a crash on Saturday around 8:30 am in Olmsted County.

According to the state patrol website, the victim's name is Michael Doan. 


In an online article, Hockey News North mentioned Doan was a hockey minor pro league goalie who played for several years with the Northern Michigan University Wildcats. Friends and family have set up a GoFundMe page for him.

On Saturday, authorities reported the incident took place at the 4500 block of Highway 14 W in Cascade Township. They say the vehicle left the road, entered the ditch, struck a utility pole, and flipped over.  It eventually landed on its roof in some tall weeds.
