(ABC 6 News) - Students throughout Olmsted and Dodge counties, including Kasson-Mantorville schools, can now get their flu shots right at school.
It's part of a program between Olmsted County, Mayo Clinic, local health centers, and schools.
Christa Seymour Olmsted County Public Health nurse says, "it's fast, they only have to miss about 10 minutes of class. It's easy for parents to get them signed up online so it's pretty convenient, the students get to stay at school, the parents get to stay at work, and they don't have to miss a lot of class time."
The costs are billed to the child's insurance and recorded, just like it would be at the clinic. Olmsted County Public Health officials say kids in schools have a twenty percent higher chance of getting the flu.
