(ABC 6 News) - A Leroy woman is facing two counts of felony theft for allegedly embezzling thousands of dollars from a wrestling booster club.
Court documents show 34-year-old Kristin Stevens is accused of making around $10,000 of unauthorized purchases using Dawg Pound Wrestling booster club money, and also not depositing money collected during club fundraisers.
Stevens was treasurer of the club from September 2016 to March 2018.
According to court documents, members of the club became concerned about mismanagement of booster money about a year ago and began looking into transactions before taking their concern to police.
Documents show Stevens told authorities she had "recently realized" that the booster club credit card was the default payment option on her Amazon account and that she had intended to contact board members about other funds she had "accidentally spent" including money used to buy a television from Best Buy.
