The Rochester hazmat team was called in to evaluate the situation, along with firefighters who sprayed water to dissipate the gas cloud. The main release valve has been shut off. Highway 56 was shut down and has since reopened.

ABC 6 News spoke with a woman who lives nearby the leak who said people were evacuated near the intersection of County Rd. 56 and Penny Ln. which is just northwest of Leroy-Ostrander High School. The school district says their building was not evacuated because of the leak.

People near the leak were evacuated to a nearby Catholic Church.
