After One Year, Grassroots Bus Line for LeRoy Thriving

(ABC 6 News) -- One year ago LeRoy Cty Lines had only one bus with a route to Rochester. Now, business is booming and organizers are confident about the future

Since Rochester City Lines stopped their commuter route from LeRoy and Grand Meadow to Rochester in 2014, the demand has not stopped.

LeRoy City Lines manager Axel Gumbel said a year ago he didn’t think it would be this successful.

"It feels awesome December 1 was our one year anniversary and we now feel like we're in a really comfortable position to build on what we started building in year one,“ said Gumbel.

Since that first trip to Rochester one year ago, LeRoy City Lines has added more routes to the med city and branched out with a stop in Chester, Iowa and charter bus services.

Janet Rosedahl has been riding LeRoy City Lines since the beginning and is thankful that city leaders saw transportation as a priority.

“You know I really look at it as a selfless act they wanted to do it for the best of Le Roy and for doing service for the community I give them a lot of credit for it," said Rosedahl.

So far the city lines are moving smoothly and they have no plans of stopping anytime soon.

Riders pay $10 for a single ride or $219 for a monthly pass.
