(ABC 6 News) - A dramatic scene in southwest Kasson this morning, when multiple crews responded to a house fire.

Kasson Fire Chief Joe Fitch says the home was engulfed in flames when they arrived, shortly after 10 a.m.

Firefighters battled flames shooting through the roof, as well as the extreme heat.

No one was home when the fire broke out, but this is one more hit to the homeowner, who has been working to repair her basement after the recent heavy rains and flooding hit the area.

"We were actually in Rochester getting more pipes to get the water to go from the sump pumps further away from the house" when the fire started, said John Binner, the nephew of the homeowner.

Officials say the fire may have started in the kitchen. They don't think the fans and dehumidifiers being used to dry out the basement were to blame.
