(ABC 6 News) - A Kasson Police Officer was taken to the hospital Saturday morning, after injuring himself.

Around 6:15 a.m., someone called the dispatch center and reported a man bleeding in a grassy area near a residential subdivision on 257 Avenue in Rural Mantorville, the Dodge County Sheriff's Office said.

Dodge County Deputies arrived on scene and discovered the injured man was a Kasson Police Officer. 

According to a press release, investigators believe the gunshot wounds are self-inflicted.

Mayo One transported the officer to Saint Marys Mayo Clinic Hospital for treatment. The Sheriff's Office said the officer's condition is currently unknown.

Authorities do not believe there is any danger to the public related to this incident. 

This case is under investigation by Dodge County and Kasson Police Investigators.
