(ABC 6 News) -- A brand new interactive sculpture was unveiled on Wednesday in downtown Rochester.

The art piece came with a $200,000 price tag paid for by the city.

There has been mixed reaction to the sculpture in front of the Civic Center.

There was the flow of negative comments on our Facebook page.

Beth Black called it a monstrosity and questioned why the city would spend so much money when the affordable housing crisis exists.

But on the street, reactions were positive.

Jamie peters said “it’s like how can you define art? What one person considers art; somebody else might not, but at the same time its art.”

Dee Sabol, the executive director of the Rochester diversity council also said she loved it "I think public art is such an iatric part of our communities. And a way for us to share thoughts and perspectives and to enjoy things that bring us together."

George Thomas said he hopes it will bring more people downtown, “it’s kinda like a drawing card to make people pay attention to the new structure and maybe perhaps inspire people to want to go inside and see what’s going on.”

We want to hear what you think about it.
