(ABC 6 News) -- The wife of a fallen officer is paying tribute to her husband by helping families in need this Christmas.
On September 10, 2013, Dodge County Captain Loring Guenther died from a heart attack following the end of his shift.
In an effort to remember him and carry on his legacy of kindness, his wife Debonie Guenther and others started a golf tournament fundraiser in his honor.
Thursday night, Debonie was able to present a check for $3,000 to Toys for Tots.
Debonie said, "I'm sure he's grinning from ear-to-ear. He was a very humble man and would have never taken any credit for this, so I am going to give him the credit."
Debonie, along with friends of Loring, spent the evening sorting toys at a warehouse in Byron.
Another $1,500 raised from the golf tournament will go toward a scholarship fund for a local law enforcement student.
