Hormel Historic Home offers modified summer camps for youth with autism due to COVID-19

Austin, MN:  Hormel Historic Home offers modified Autism Summer Camp programming due to COVID-19 situation. 

2020 is the 10th Anniversary year of the Hormel Historic Home offering summer camp opportunities to youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the Austin community.  Although their typical on-site/ in the community camps cannot be provided, camp directors are working diligently to offer ‘camp kits’ which can be picked up for registered campers on Monday, July 6th from 3-6 pm at the south garden entrance of the Hormel Historic Home.

Kit contents, activities, and method of implementation vary based on which camp youth are eligible for.   

Circle of Friends Camp—Youth entering 1st through 5th grades who are typically able to work in small groups and have a functional communication ability.

All Access Community Explorations—Youth in grades 6-12 who are typically able to work in small groups and have a functional communication system.

Camp Just For Me—Youth in grades 1-12 who typically need one to one support

Kits are available at no cost to eligible youth
