(ABC 6 News)-- Julie Vanhook's personal loss is something other parents never have to experience. Unfortunately, two latest accidents on what is known as one of the deadliest state highways in Minnesota took two more lives and severely injuring two others.
There is a plan in motion, where officials want to make the stretch of the road safer.
Minnesota Department of Transportation spokesperson Mike Dougherty went in-depth on what's currently being worked on.
Dougherty is also a father and has the same concerns for dangerous roads such as Highway 14.
"All of those little shortcuts may save you a few seconds but sometimes they last a lifetime, those decisions," said Dougherty.
