You've likely noticed all of the moisture in the atmosphere lately with how humid & sticky it has felt. This will all get squeeze out though as the cold front taps into our atmospheric moisture, not only bringing the strong/severe storm threat to the area, but the heavy rain potential as well. The heaviest rain will fall with the more intense storms later in the evening Saturday, but pockets of steady, heavy rain will carry over into Saturday night, as the cold front is slow to move out of the area. Possibly even stalling out for a little while, especially across southern MN. As heavy rain falls over the same areas, we'll be watching out for the potential for localized flooding, mainly Saturday night-early Sunday. Please remember your flood safety tips during this time, as driving through flooded areas is ALWAYS a danger, NEVER do it at night! Upwards of 1-2" of rain is expected, with a few areas possibly seeing more, depending on where the heaviest rain falls.
