(ABC 6 News) - The Freeborn County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a suspect involved in a reported armed robbery at the Gopher Stop in Clarks Grove.

According to the sheriff's office, Monday around 9:30 p.m. an employee at the Gopher Stop reported that an armed robbery had just occurred.

The employee told deputies the suspect said more than once, "I'm going to shoot you, give me your money."  The employee told deputies he refused to give the suspect money saying, "No you're not, shoot me then, I'm not giving you money" to which the suspect pulled an alleged handgun from his pocket.

After the verbal exchange, the employee told deputies the suspect then turned toward the kitchen, that's when he picked up the phone, called 911 and told the suspect authorities were on the way.

Deputies, Albert Lea police and the Minnesota State Patrol all responded to the scene.  A K-9 team tracked a scent west along Highway 251 that ended a short distance from CSAH 45.  A drone was also used in the search but was unable to locate anything.

If you have any information about the reported robbery you're asked to call the sheriff's office at 507-377-5200 ext. 5.
