(ABC 6 News)-- Brownie Girl Scout Troop 47865 set up shop at the Rochester VFW Monday.
"We're helping to raise money for the troops and help get some donations for them,” said Girl Scout Ella Feenstra.
Cookies bought at the military drive will get dispersed through the Girl Scout Organization to service members at home and overseas.
"Since they are working all the time it's nice just to see them have a smile on their face too and have a nice little box of cookies," said Girl Scout Addy Feenstra.
For Brownie Addy Gore, this cookie sale is extra special, because her dad Zachary Gore received cookies while serving overseas.
"I was in Iraq in 2005 in Sadr City and also in Kosovo in 2007 and 2008," said Veteran Zachary Gore.
On both tours of duty, he received cookie care packages.
“I think it was nice because it was their way of sending a little piece of home to us,” he said.
His daughter hopes the delivery brightened his time away.
"It meant that he was happy and he was joyful," she said.
Now, because of his daughter’s troop, Gore gets to pay it forward.
"I think it’s great because it's really a full circle scenario. Years and years ago I was the one receiving cookies as a soldier and now I have a daughter and another daughter that someday down the road we get to carry on this tradition," he said.
