(ABC 6 News) -- This summer $11,000 was stolen from the Dodge County Youth Hockey Association. Now, the hockey community is working to get that money back through a fundraiser this Saturday.
"It was disheartening. It's a lot of work for a lot of people to get that money together and for it to just disappear over one night it was a setback," said Coach Mike Hoff.
The money, which was stolen from “Events” in Kasson according to a police report was supposed to go to a new facility and an outdoor rink.
They hope to make up the money lost at Saturday’s fundraiser.
“We kinda pulled up our boot strings and got back at it again,” he said.
The event at the Mantorville Saloon will include live music, food, and a silent auction.
President of the Dodge County Youth Hockey Board of Directors Terry Lulf hopes this money can go to updating the arena.
"The arena has a penalty box and scoreboard area but it's not very parent-friendly," he said.
He also hopes to renovate the lockers rooms.
"Immediate plans are some low impact high-value changes in the arena that we can hopefully afford to do after this fundraiser," he said.
Hoff said the community has been incredibly supportive leading up to the event.
“Everybody has jumped on board. It’s been great,” he said.
The fundraiser will take place at the Mantorville Saloon Saturday, February 9 from 3 p.m.-8 p.m.
