With our temperatures expected to drop well below zero overnight Thursday and Friday night, thanks to a strong blast of Arctic Air, our concern for frostbite safety is growing. With air temperatures expected to be between 10 and 20 degrees below zero both Thursday and Friday night, coupled with winds that are expected to be light both nights frostbite can set in within 20 to 30 minutes on exposed skin. To reduce your risk of getting frostbite, make sure that you are covering up as much skin as possible especially where it is more thin like your ears, nose, lips and finger tips. Dress in layer and be aware if you are sweating as that will actually help increase your chance of getting frostbite. Limit your time outdoors as well as your pets time outdoors since they can succumb to frostbite too.
