Floyd County Law Enforcement Center Funding Passes in Special Election

(ABC 6 News) -- Voters approved building a new law enforcement center in Floyd County on Tuesday night.

According to the Floyd County Auditor, the preliminary results show 68.72% of voters are in favor of spending around $13.5 million dollars on the project.

Plans call for building a new, 32-jail bed attached to the courthouse, which will also be renovated.

Sheriff Jeff Crooks said the outdated design of the 1940s jail posed significant safety risks for workers and inmates.
