(ABC 6 News) - Two people were seriously injured Friday morning after a crash in Floyd County west of Marble Rock.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a pickup believed to be traveling southbound on T-18 struck a semi-truck traveling westbound on B-60 near Marble Rock.

The impact split the semi in half, sending part of it into the ditch.

The state patrol said the driver and a passenger in the pickup were taken to Mercy Hospital in Mason City and the semi driver was uninjured.

A State Patrol spokesman said it's unknown at this time if fog was an issue.

According to the Floyd County Sheriff's Office, the intersection of B-60 and T-18 west of Marble Rock is closed due to a serious accident.

The sheriff's office said the accident happened around 9:15 a.m.

No other details have been released at this time.

Authorities are asking motorists to avoid that area and find alternate routes while the investigation continues.
