Just think, we got rid of 10" of snow, about an inch or two of liquid equivalent, in the last two days! We still have six inches to melt away! All the snow melt, and rain from the middle of the week has led to flooding concerns for the area. And with all the snow melt going straight into the rivers, minor flooding can be expected as we go into the weekend. We'll have to be on the lookout as well for ice jams, as the recent thaw weakened and broke the ice up, and with Friday's strong wind, that will drift the ice down stream. This will increase the threat for flooding, especially near bridges or kinks in a river/stream. The good news for our Saint Patrick's Day weekend, we'll have the luck of the Irish with us. Aside from very light snow late Saturday afternoon/evening, we are looking chilly, but quiet both days. This will help to reduce the flooding issues around the area.
