Fillmore County Sheriff Tom Kaase Talks about Lack of Endorsement from Deputy Association

August 13, 2018 12:36 PM

(ABC 6 News) - There appears to be some tension within the Fillmore County Sheriff's Office.  That's because Sheriff Tom Kaase is running for re-election against one of his own employees, Captain John DeGeorge.

Making this race even more awkward is the fact the Fillmore County Deputy Sheriff's Association has endorsed DeGeorge for the upcoming 2018 election.

DeGeorge released a statement over the weekend saying, "I am honored to have received this endorsement from the Deputies Association after a thorough and fair process required by union bylaws was followed. I believe that this is an important part of the campaign process and allows the employees of the Fillmore County Sheriff's Office to have their voices heard. I look forward to moving ahead through election day with the support of the Fillmore County Deputies Association."
