(ABC 6 News) - UPDATE: The Iowa State Patrol said the deceased is a male victim, his identity is being withheld until family is notified.
A state patrol deputy at the scene said the train was heading southwest when it struck a sprayer being pulled by the tractor, which was southbound.
The deputy said the sprayer took most of the impact but it did cause the tractor to spin around, possibly multiple times.
The Iowa State Patrol is at the scene of a fatal accident involving a Canadian Pacific train and a tractor.
According to Sgt. Nathan Ludwig, the accident happened shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday on Ulmus Ave. about 1/2 mile south of Highway 9, northeast of Plymouth.
Ludwig said representatives from Canadian Pacific are en route.
An ABC 6 News reporter at the scene said the accident occurred at a grade crossing on a gravel road. There are stop signs at the intersection but no railroad crossing light or stop arm.
