(ABC 6 News) -- A Minneapolis man, wanted on a federal probation violation warrant, was arrested in Olmsted County over the weekend after allegedly leading authorities on a chase.

An Olmsted County Sheriff's Deputy was on patrol on Highway 14 near Center Ave in Eyota around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18. The deputy said he saw a 2010 Crown Victoria pull into the path of another vehicle, almost causing a crash. The deputy followed the car and said the car drove onto a curb and back onto the road. The deputy tried to pull the car over, but the driver allegedly sped off.

The deputy continued chasing the car on Highway 14, into Dover, and around several side streets before calling off the chase for safety reasons. The chase reached speeds of neary 80 miles per hour.

While he wasn't actively chasing the vehicle, the deputy kept it in sight but eventually lost it in Eyota. The deputy later said he saw the driver of the vehicle walking on 2 St. SE in Eyota. Another deputy found the car a couple blocks away on Lafayette.

The alleged driver, 61-year-old Gregory Anderson of Minneapolis, was arrested. According to Olmsted County Sheriff Captain Scott Behrns, Anderson was wanted on a federal warrant for a probation violation stemming from a bank robbery conviction. He is also now facing charges in Olmsted County including a felony fleeing charge and several traffic violations.
