Rochester doctor named to governor's opioid council

(ABC 6 News) - Nineteen people have been chosen to serve on the state's newly-formed opioid council including a Rochester resident.

Doctor Halena Gazelka is in the Palliative Care and Pain Medicine departments at Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Gazelka and the others were chosen for their personal and professional experience with opioid addiction and its consequences.

The council will hold its first meeting next Friday.

The first report and project funding recommendations are due in March of 2020.
