According to the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office, 79 unbelted motorists lost their lives on Minnesota roads in 2016.

The campaign is part of Minnesota's Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) program. The goal of the program is to lower the number of fatalities on Minnesota roads. The TZD program uses education and enforcement like the 'Click It or Ticket' campaign to work toward this goal, but law enforcement said motorist support is also essential.
