(ABC 6 News)-- A new survey reveals that today's kids are ready to speak up for what's right, and think the world is ready to listen. 6:30 with Betsy Singer delved into the survey with Highlights Magazine editor-in-chief Christine French Cully.

Topics included in the survey were what worries children, who influence them, and if they are more outspoken when deciding what's right and wrong.

Teachers and parents scored as the biggest influencers in a child's life. It rose from 17 percent in 2009 to 25 percent in 2018.

This is the 10th year that this survey has been conducted at Highlights. The purpose of this survey is to be more attentive to children's behavior.

"We want to make sure that we understand the messages we are sending and the messages our kids are receiving," said Cully. "The only way we can know that is to just talk to them."
