Sgt. Schueller said Jordan and his girlfriend were arguing, when she fell down. The family dog, a pitbull-lab mix, apparently got spooked and "nipped" the woman in the shoulder.

The two continued arguing, and the dog apparently "got protective" of the woman and nipped at Jordan. Sgt. Schueller said Jordan got a shotgun and shot the dog, who was cowering under a table. The dog died, and Sgt. Schueller said one of the couple's two children was a few feet away at the time.

After the shooting, Jordan allegedly left and the girlfriend locked the gun in her car.

Authorities found Jordan the next day and arrested him. He's facing charges of reckless discharge of a firearm - endangering safety, three counts of domestic assault using a firearm, three counts of domestic assault - fear, and mistreatment of an animal.
