(ABC 6 News) -- The independent film “Seed of Doubt” began shooting in Rochester this month.
The psychological thriller follows a woman as her dream home turns into a nightmare. More than 30 cast and crew members came to Rochester for production.
While the four actors come from New York, LA, and Chicago, some of the production team is local, like co-producer Sara Hamilton.
She hopes “Seed of Doubt” jumpstarts even more local productions.
“We have several other films in the pipeline that we are hoping to shoot here. It’s an amazing location. It has everything you would want in a filmmaking location. And it has people who care,” said Sarah.
Production Assistant Jessica Prihoda moved to Rochester last year. She thinks “Seed of Doubt” will set an example for other filmmakers hoping to shoot in Rochester.
“I think people will see, oh they did it, they did it in two weeks, they had all this support, all the crew and it was successful. I think this makes people braver and willing to put themselves out there,” said Jessica.
Meanwhile, Sarah has been working with MN TV and film to encourage more filmmakers to come to South East Minnesota.
“We are trying to work with them to develop a South East Minnesota regional office so we can start building in more incentives so more people will start filming here,” said Sarah.
This February, “Seed of Doubt” will be released in special theaters across the country. They are planning a special premiere for Rochester.
