(ABC 6 News) - The only full grocery store in Byron will close this fall, which means residents may have to drive to other towns for supplies.
A new buyer is already in the works.
“It’s really helpful for a lot of citizens who either don't drive or need to run and pick up something really quick,” resident Liza Zacher said about Byron Market Place.
When the grocery store closes in the coming months, the only place residents can go that's still in town will be Kwik Trip.
“Kwik Trip will be the main business to get what you need and they just don't have everything that's available. If I was making a recipe and I wanted to get a specific spice, for example, I wouldn't be able to run down there like I am now. I have to go all the way into Rochester,” Zacher said.
And for some residents, that's just not a feasible option.
“I have a neighbor, too, who relies on a motorized wheelchair,” said Zacher.
Kwik Trip has confirmed to ABC 6 News it has an agreement to buy the Byron Market Place, but has yet to transfer the title. City officials expect Kwik Trip to open a new store at the same location in February of 2019.
