Byron Man Facing Charge in Fatal Crash Arrested on Drug Charges

(ABC 6 News) -- Members of the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crime Enforcement team searched a home at 215 2 Ave NW in Byron just before 9 a.m. on Friday, May 11. 

According to Olmsted County Sheriff's Captain Scott Behrns, authorities found 60 grams of marijuana wax, 20 500-milligram e-cigarette cartridges containing marijuana oil, 27.2 grams of marijuana and $2,500 in cash.

Authorities arrested 21-year-old Jordan Wilde. He's facing a 5th-degree controlled substance charge. 

According to Capt. Behrns, Wilde was charged with Criminal Vehicular Homicide in August for his involvement in a fatal New Year's Eve Crash near Byron. 

That crash happened around 11 p.m. on December 31, 2016 in Kalmar Township. 60-year-old Daniel Pyfferoen was killed in that crash. Wilde was allegedly smoking marijuana when he crossed the center line and hit Pyfferoen's vehicle head-on.
