Byron Kicks Off Good Neighbor Days with Beer Mile

(ABC 6 News) – Byron's Good Neighbor Days kicked off Thursday night with its 5th annual Beer Mile.

Runners have to drink a cup of beer every quarter mile during the race, but was all for a good cause.

All proceeds from Thursday night’s event will go towards helping people with disabilities.

"The project is going to be at our new Byron community sports complex, which is just on the each side of town,” event emcee Dan Mesenburg said. “They’re going to put a handicap accessible park in there."

The theme for the Beer Mile was 80’s night.
