About 250 people came to the Byron American Legion for the post everlasting ceremony.

Community members presented a quilt of valor to the family of Jim Pries, who passed away last year. Jim was a foundational member of the legion. He always made sure the color and honor guards were present when needed. 20 other veterans who lost their lives were honored and remembered in the ceremony.

"I think it's wonderful to see these many people turn out for a function like this. They are very supportive," said Post Chaplain Jon Leif.

The Byron American Legion donated more than $150,000 to the community in the last five years.
