Girl Scouts Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys Responds to Boy Scout Decision

October 12, 2017 11:15 PM

Wednesday, we reported that the boy scouts will now allow girls to participate in some programs.

They announced plans to admit girls in the cub scouts starting as early as next year, and will also establish a new program for older girls.

That program would use the same curriculum as the Boy Scouts and would start as early as 2019.

The Girl Scouts of America has issued a response to yesterday's decision, slamming the Boy Scouts, saying, "The boy scouts house is on fire. Instead of addressing systemic issues of continuing sexual assault, financial mismanagement and deficient programming, BSA's senior management wants to add an accelerant to the house fire by recruiting girls."

Betsy Singer spoke with Tisha Bolger, Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valley regarding this issue.
