Body Cameras for Law Enforcement Gains Support After Fatal Shooting in Albert Lea

January 04, 2019 07:52 PM

(ABC 6 News)-- A fatal shooting involving police officers that happened in Albert Lea on Thursday prompted the question of why law enforcement wasn't wearing body cameras.

The Freeborn County Sheriff's office gave a green-light for body cameras to be given to officers to wear out on the field, but a number of implementation delays left Sheriff Kurt Freitag frustrated.

Sheriff Freitag isn't the only one in our local law enforcement who supports the use of body cameras. Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson joined in-studio to talk about his experience with body cameras even before the department implemented them for officers.
