Weekend meteorologist Blaise Keller comes to ABC 6 News from Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he was a meteorologist at the NBC affiliate for 4 years. Blaise graduated from Valparaiso University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology. During the Summer of 2012, Blaise was fortunate enough to take part in a storm chasing program through his college where he was able to witness cyclic tornadogenesis.
Blaise grew up just outside of Madison, Wisconsin, but spent most of his childhood in Indiana so he’s very familiar with the extremes that can happen during all seasons. Over the last four years though, he’s forecasted/witnessed historic flash flooding, blizzards, tornadoes (sometimes on the same day) as well as extreme cold and heat.
Even though he’s seen some of the extremes Mother Nature can create, he still gets a little scared whenever there’s a thunderstorm… especially at night. As a child, it was that fear that got him interested in weather.
When Blaise isn’t forecasting, he’s either at the gym, outside or, if the weather isn’t exactly good, playing video games. He and his fiancé are dads to three animals – two cats, Cumulo and Nimbus and a French bulldog, Lito.
