(ABC 6 News) -- When you think of a beauty contest, trucks probably aren’t the first thing that comes to mind.

The Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition, a truck beauty contest, is being held at Trails Travel Center in Albert Lea Thursday through Saturday.

"I have a lot of envy for them because they get to see the open road. They get to see a sunrise in Colorado, a sunset in Florida. They get to see all these great things as a part of their job, and their job just happens to be a very vital and crucial part of our economy." Said Eric Harley, a judge with the competition.

Truckers are competing for $25,000 in cash as well as 12 highly desired spots on the 2020 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar.

"Being featured on the Calendar is the highlight of the event. There is a lot of history and heritage tied to it, so some of these drivers, their fathers have been featured in years past and so they're here to kind of continue the legacy and be featured as well." Said Annie Peter, brand manager for Shell Rotella North America.

"We was on that calendar in 2017, so that's like one of those honors that’s once in a lifetime deal.” “I tell them it could be two times if they would just pick us again." Joked contestant Daniel Snow of Snow Trucking.

For Snow and his wife Phyllis, their truck is more than just where they work.

"It's basically our home. We have a home but from Christmas to early June, we was home six nights. The rest of the year we spent in this rig." Snow said. "To win a trophy, to win an award that's always great - but that's just the icing on the cake. Being here is the cake itself. We've been very honored to be a part of this show in this community."

"You just become family," mentioned Phyllis Snow.
