(ABC 6 News) -- Wednesday, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture hosted a discussion about the barriers farmers are facing and what solutions are needed to remove those barriers.
Wednesday’s listening session at 125 Live in Rochester, was led by Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan.
It focused on supporting farmers through proper education and access to resources.
The goal is to help immigrant farmers, farmers of color and beginning farmers succeed.
Numbers show 985 farmers are people of color of indigenous farmers.
After the five, public state listening sessions, state leaders hope to create an emerging farmer task force.
