(ABC 6 News) – Something fun that’s become more of a common sight in a small town of Byron, a food truck at Byron High School, maintained by students, and today the B-Town Bistro, as it’s called, held their grand opening for the school year.

Students came up with their own recipes, which include the popular pork bowl with mac and cheese, selling their food during the different lunch periods at the high school.

The Bistro has been popular, selling out Friday and on Wednesday was sold out in just over 45 minutes. While working at the Bistro is fun, it is much more than just a food truck. It is combining education with food.

"It’s giving to the community and a lot of the community gives to us students money-wise and sports-wise, so giving back to them and giving them the food, the great food that we serve, I think they really enjoy that," said Byron Senior Abby Schnell.

Schnell said they are preparing for what might be their busiest day of the year, Homecoming, which is Friday, September 24.

The B-Town Bistro is open to the community twice a week. The next opportunity to grab lunch there is Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Byron Middle School.
